Welcome to Green River, Utah, a small town with a population of approximately 900, located on I-70 about 70 miles from the Colorado border. This is
a convenient stop if you're driving from Salt Lake City and can't wait another 45 minutes till you get to Moab. Green River’s Main Street has a wide variety of motels, including Best Western, Comfort Inn, Super 8, Motel 6 and others. Green River State Park has a campground near the River In addition to several commercial campgrounds. Main Street also offers several cafes and restaurants. The John Wesley Powell River History Museum in Green River is of special interest to river travelers; as is Ray's Tavern, world (we're not kidding!) famous for their charbroiled burgers & steaks; where a peanut butter & jelly sandwich costs about three times more than a burger. Green River has a medical center, a grocery store, a bank, ATM machines, a drugstore, but no liquor store. Locally Green River is famous for its wonderful melons and has an annual Melon Days Festival.

We suggest you allow a few days before or after your program to visit Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Goblin Valley and Dead Horse Point State Parks, or the San Rafael Swell area.
