Moab, Utah, Canyonlands Field Institute's base of operations.
We love it here! Moab is a small town, population: 5500 at an elevation of 4025 feet above sea level. We are surrounded by an incredible landscape and far from major cities. The Colorado River passes just north and west of Moab. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are a few miles from downtown. Recreation opportunities abound. Canyon hiking, pictograph sites, world class mountain bike and jeep trails, and even dinosaur tracks are easily accessible in and around Moab.
