Meet 9am on Tuesday and return at 5pm on Friday. Campers are on a "nature retreat" — campers should be able to attend the session all nights/days; we do not allow students or family members to come and go from the site (to town for other events for example) for our program standards, group cohesion and child safety protocols. We ask children to leave behind electronics such as game boys, music, and cell phones and learn to have fun on nature's terms!

These sessions are offered based on grade level upcoming in the fall (our age guidelines are firm for program quality and safety reasons.)

REGISTRATION deadline is 14 days prior to camp start date.

Families, please drop off your child on the first day between 8:45 and 9:00 am at the CFI back warehouse where you will meet your Naturalist Guides and repack your duffel into CFI waterproof bags for the week. We request that kids are not dropped off earlier than 8:45 as our staff will be making final preparations and wants to be fully ready to go at 8:45 for a great week ahead.Tents are provided by CFI. Let us know in advance if you need sleeping bag or pad. On the last day Friday, please arrive between 5:00 and 5:15 to pick up your child at CFI back warehouse. Thank you!

The program is led by two CFI Naturalist Guides that are extensively trained to work in our ongoing school environmental education programs. They are 21 years and older and hold college degrees in related fields; they receive screening for Utah Educator's Background Checks, have wilderness medicine and CPR certifications and are licensed Utah River Guides. Additional assistance is provided by either a CFI interns or teen counselor in training.

  • Meet at 9am at CFI with your overnight clothing, a sleeping bag & pad or we can provide for you.
  • You will camp out in tents three nights in the La Sal National Forest at Wilcox Flat Base Camp (near Warner Lake).
  • CFI provides camp kitchen, tents and meals, adventurous hike on the mountains, animal tracking and other fun nature games and art.
  • Last day, we'll drop down out of the mountains for a full day on the Colorado River.
  • CFI provides terrific meals — lunch day 1 through lunch the last day.
