Professor Valley Field Camp is located in a breath-taking setting just 20 miles from Moab and Arches National Park and only minutes from the Colorado River.  The combination of red rock cliffs, the perennial stream and spectacular views of the La Sal Mountains, the majestic Fisher Towers and Castleton Tower make Professor Valley an ideal location for spring and fall field studies.

This area is highly scenic and often filmed as a set for movies. Our rustic Field Camp is ideal for your group to enjoy a quiet retreat, learn with a CFI Naturalist about desert plants, animals, geology and public lands management, and have time for your own curriculum as well.

You'll savor deep silence, awesome views, excellent hiking, and an unbelievable starry night sky far away from city lights!

The Canyon's Edge:
Science, Story and Soul on the Colorado Plateau

Designed for middle and high schools groups, our Canyon's Edge Field Camp Program immerses students in the physical and cultural geography of the Colorado Plateau with an emphasis on soils, geology, water, plants, animals and human relationships to this arid land.

Students receive instruction accompanied by a specially designed, printed workbook journal and enjoy physical challenge and exciting, fun-filled exploration and adventure. 

Activities include:

• Personal and group field science investigations
• Naturalist observations
• Role playing
• Sketching
• Desert literature readings
• Writing activities
• Physical challenge and adventure through 2-5 mile backcountry hikes

School Field Camp - Two Nights

Two half days and one full day of Instruction & Hikes.

• 20 - 40 Participants: $200/person*
• 15 - 19 Participants: $220/person
  * Need to accommodate a larger group?
  • Get a 10% Discount for back-to-back groups
    i.e. Mon-Wed & Wed-Fri
• Available: Fall — Mon-Wed, Wed-Fri or Fri-Sun

Three full days of instruction and Hikes including a one day River Trip on the Colorado River!

• 20 - 40 Participants: $400/person*
• 15 - 19 Participants: $420/person*
  * Additional $15/person if CFI provides transportation to/from river trip
