Outdoor Environmental Education for Professional Tour Guides

Canyonlands Field Institute offers Wilderness Advanced First Aid, WFR/WAFA Recert, River Rescue, and Leave No Trace Trainer courses for tour guides, rangers and back-country guides, outdoor educators and other professionals who work outdoors; but are open to the public. Courses based in Moab; small class size, high instructor to student ratio an frequent practice scenarios with equipment.



Wilderness Medicine Institute/NOLS: Wilderness Advanced First Aid and WFR/WAFA Recert Courses

These courses are based in downtown Moab, Utah. Enrollment is limited and these programs fill quickly. Lodging and meals are on your own. Two year certification including CPR. Contact Wilderness Medicine Institute directly for information about schedule and location for full WFR and EMT classes and about recerting from another provider. See links below for course details and how to register for CFI's courses. Deposits are non-refundable unless we cancel the course; final payment due 30 days prior and not refundable after the 30 day deadline.

Registration through CFI. Class sessions in Moab. Meets and exceeds Utah River Guide license requirements.

Westwater Whitewater River Rescue - Active hands-on training in risk management
COURSE OPEN for 2008

April 3-5, 2009
Fee: $380, Deposit: $125, balance due 30 days prior; fees include boats, shuttles, meals, support, river use fees. Deposit non-refundable unless you fill your spot. Class session in Moab followed by overnight Westwater Canyon river trip.

For commercial guide, private boater, field biologist, emergency & ranger personnel. Previous river running experience required.


Leave No Trace Trainer Course - Professor Valley Field Camp near Moab

Overnight camp stay in secluded and beautiful Professor Valley, tipi/yurt facilities, meals.
