In 1776, a Franciscan, Silvestre Velez de Escalante christened the river "Rio de Nuestra Senora de Los Dolores" - River of Our Lady of Sorrows.

This popular 56 mile stretch is famous for geological wonders and interesting side canyon hikes, mild/moderate rapids and flat water. First night orientation at 7.p.m. and overnight stay at Recapture Lodge in Bluff, UT followed by our river trip in the world-famous Goosenecks section of the lower San Juan Canyon, a remote wilderness setting.

A fun outdoor learning adventure for your family. This popular 26 mile stretch is famous for geological wonders and interesting side canyon hikes, extensive prehistoric Indian rock art and dwellings. Mild rapids and wonderful scenic floats along ever changing dramatic canyon walls. Nature games for kids, history, geology topics for adults. First night orientation at motel in Bluff, UT followed by camping under the stars next 2 nights. Pleasant, warm dry temperatures. Boating gear provided including inflatable kayaks "duckies". Bring tent and sleeping gear; rentals available. Delicious healthy meals, fresh foods. FOR ACTIVE FAMILIES, kids 6 years and older. Begins and ends in Bluff by 5 PM the last day.

Dramatic Red Sandstone towers rise above you as we float this dramatic river canyon. Camp in tents or under the stars while hearing stories and learning about Colorado River geology, history and animal life from our instructor/guides. After a day of fresh air, sun and a splashing good time, you'll enjoy our delicious dutch oven cuisine and have time to explore, read and socialize. Special nature art and games are planned for the kids.
